A Long Week

This has been a long and tiring week. Some of you know that my husband has a serious medical issue we are dealing with, and weeks like this the stamping (and blogging) is the first thing to get pushed to the side. But the baby went to bed early because he didn't get a nap, so I was determined to get a card made. I was hoping to get to bed early tonight, but I wanted to get this made and posted. So here it is! It is for my mom (and dad) who have been a tremendous help to us these past few weeks. We could not have done everything we had to without them. Thank you, mom and dad!
If you have any questions about the creation of this card, please ask and I'll be sure to get back to you. Have a great night!

stamps - Live Your Dream, Women of My Life (PTI)
paper - pomegranate, sky, wasabi
ink - pomegranate, wasabi, palette noir
acc - black grosgrain ribbon, black brads, mat pack & piercer, corner rounder, black glaze pen, stickles (flower centers)

I can't resist posting cute pictures of my kid, it always brings a smile to my face! Here he is, playing with Aunt Deb's sunglasses:

Color Combo Copy

The idea for this card was pretty simple, but the execution was just abysmal! Anyway, my friend Krystie used this color combo brilliantly, and I just had to run and make a card using it. I colored the flowers using pomegranate and pale plum ink pads and pumpkin marker. My SAMJ helped me get them spaced properly. Then I layered the different strips and added the ribbon. So far so good. Well, then I thought that it would be cool to use page pebbles over the flowers, so I just started putting them on. I got to the left edge and said, uh oh, what am I gonna do. So I just left the little half flower naked. The brads and piercing went fine, then I screwed up the sentiment (AFTER it was attached to the card). So I just made a new pumpkin piece, redid the brads, and attached it on top of the messed up one. The original pumpkin piece actually extends all the way to the top of the flower strip, so I kinda got myself in a real pickle for a minute. But we all know there are no mistakes in stamping, just opportunities for creativity!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!

Lori's birthday card

I made this card for my sister's birthday a few days ago. This happens to be a favorite color combo of mine: coral, olive, and chocolate. I inked up a chipboard flower with coral craft ink and embossed it a couple times with glassy glaze EP. I inked up the flower center first with white craft ink and dried it with my heat gun, then inked it up with barely banana craft ink and glassy glazed it a few times. The center is finished off with a Love & Happiness rub-on. I glued a Heidi Swapp ghost flower in the middle with mono multi.

stamps - Paper Tray (PTI)
paper - chocolate chip, ww, olive dsp
ink - chocolate classic; coral, banana, and white craft
acc - glassy glaze ep, chipboard flower, Love & Happiness rub-on, chocolate grosgrain

Easy Peasy Swap Card

This is a very simple card I made for the second group of the recent new catalog swap I participated in. The whole main panel is popped up with dimensionals, everything else is WYSIWYG! Hope your week is off to a great start!

stamps - Stemming From, Hugs & Wishes
paper - bashful blue, choc chip, barely banana, ww
ink - rose red, wild wasabi, choc chip
acc - soft subtles brads, choc grosgrain, dimensionals

New Catalog Swap Card

I made this card for a recent new catalog swap I was in. Everything except the branches was embossed with craft ink and clear EP. I used the corner rounder to create the scalloped strip, and added olive ribbon for an extra pop of color. I embossed just part of the heart a second time on coral paper, punched out the heart, and mounted it on a build-a-brad. The heart is popped up with dimensionals!
Thanks for stopping by, hope your weekend is going well!

stamps - Always
paper - chocolate chip, ruby red, cameo coral, soft sky
ink - chocolate chip classic, ruby and coral craft
acc - mat pack & piercer, corner rounder, olive grosgrain, clear EP, build-a-brad, dimensionals

Don't You Wish Your Kid Could Stamp Like Mine?

I mean, look at the valentine he made for his daddy. C'mon, you gotta admit it's pretty good for a 19-month old. He's going to be the next (insert your favorite stamping celebrity here)!
Couple things: when using real red paper, I always stamp backgrounds on it using ruby ink. Real red ink just disappears. The new poly twill ribbon is much softer and flexible than I thought it would be, it's yummy!

Supplies: stamps - Moose You, Short Order alpha paper - real red, chocolate chip, close to cocoa, whisper white ink - ruby red (for background), real red, chocolate chip acc - nestabilities, chocolate poly twill, HPH, dimensionals

And here's the valentine I made hubby:I used Mono Multi for the first time, and remember HOW MUCH I HATE GLUE! It got all over the place even though I tried to use just a tiny bit, so now there's a big ole ugly smudge on it that I almost tore the paper trying to rub off! Anyway, on to some of the details: the heart is from On Board Blossoms and Basics, and I covered it with ruby craft ink and embossed it with several layers of glassy glaze EP. The i and u are also clear embossed with ruby craft ink. I used my SAMJ to line up the words sweet and heart from Bundle of Joy, and embossed that in white. The always is also embossed in white, and piercing rounds it out.

stamps - Short Order alpha, Bundle of Joy, Always
paper - sahara sand, soft sky, wild wasabi, blue bayou, ruby red, whisper white
ink - ruby red craft, versamark
acc - mat pack & piercer, vintage brads, white EP, glassy glaze, chipboard heart

Thanks for stopping by, Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh well, I bought him some chocolate, he'll be happy with that. This card is pretty self-explanatory, so no more yapping from me tonight.

A Valentine's Challenge

This card was for a challenge awhile ago on the demo side of SCS, and the challenge was to make a Valentine's card without using the traditional images of Valentine's Day. So I went real easy on myself and didn't use any images at all! The letters were stamped in various colors and embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder for some sparkle. The sentiment is actually the "be merry" from Warm Words, and I used a marker and my stamp-a-ma-jig to eliminate some of the letters. Thanks for stopping by!

stamps - Warm Words, Short Order Alphabet
paper - vanilla, pomegranate, rose red, regal rose, choc chip
ink - versamark, pomegranate, rose red, choc chip marker
acc - vanilla grosgrain; II ep; scallop, 1-3/8", 1-1/4", 1" punches

Featured Stamper Sunday

I finally got around to playing the Featured Stamper Challenge again yesterday at SCS. Renee Van Stralen has lots of great stuff in her gallery, and here is my CASE of one of them.
I stamped the presents on scraps and punched them out with the 1-3/8" circle punch. They are attached to a chocolate layer that was pierced down both sides. The rest is WYSIWYG!

stamps - Eat Cake, All Holidays
paper - celery, turquoise, chocolate, ww
ink - celery, turquoise, chocolate, apricot
acc - apricot grosgrain, mat pack & piercer, 1-3/8" circle punch
