GSG Inspiration Challenge and BRAKs

Woohoo! I am all registered for convention! This will be the first time I have gone, and probably will be the only time, so I'm glad it's the 20th Anniversary Convention. It's going to be such fun! I am really looking forward to meeting many of my swap group friends and other online friends!

This first card is for the GSG blog Inspiration Challenge. I was inspired by the stripes and dots of the inspiration piece.I started with a white panel and added celery cardstock stripes. I mounted it on a ballet blue piece and tied a pomegranate ribbon around it. This whole layer was mounted on a white card base. I attached a wasabi circle on top, stamped and punched out a ballet blue polka dot heart, stamped and cut out the sentiment, attached the sentiment to the star with a brad, and attached the star over the wasabi circle with dimensionals. And there you have it!

Supplies: stamps - Classic Backgrounds, Fundamental Phrases paper - ww, ballet blue, celery, wasabi ink - ballet blue, wasabi acc - pomegranate ribbon, RR brads, large star punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, dimensionals

Now on to a few BRAKs: First of all, I had a great birthday. Thanks to everyone for the wishes! My DH's friend from college was visiting over the weekend, so we went to see Ironman. It was GREAT! I already want to see it again, lol. Then Saturday night we had dinner with family and a bunch of friends. My DH and MIL planned it all out, and everyone contributed to the "Send Becky to Utah Fund". It was a surprise, and very fun! My parents contributed a large amount, and my MIL and FIL wrote me an IOU for the remainder of the financial expense of going to convention. I still almost cry when I think about it. Many of you are aware of the medical situation my DH and I dealt with the past couple months, and he and my in-laws decided in the midst of all that I WAS going to convention. Very touching and humbling. Thank you, Moms and Dads! I am very excited to go!!!!

Anyway, this first BRAK is my favoritest:My DH made it!!!! He got up early on my birthday, went downstairs and used my stuff. I went down later and couldn't even tell he'd been down there, lol! I was pretty impressed. This is only the second card he's ever made me, the first one was on our wedding day 6-1/2 years ago. I mean, he cut out the vase, put the flower on the stem, stamped words on it (pretty straight too!) and embellished it. Isn't it beautiful? Thanks, babe! I love it!

Well, thanks for sticking around, I have more BRAKs, swap cards, and some exciting news coming up for you this week!

sounds like you had an amazing birthday. love the card DH made, and it really is your style, too.
Love the card you did for the inspiration challenge. I especially like how you used just a touch of blue and a touch of pomegranate. You captured that so well from the picture.

Wow! Your card is gorgeous. I can't believe your husband made your card! I am sure that meant so much to you! I, for some reason, can't see my husband even wanting to try. :( He is an artist, but not that kind! Haha. Thanks for sharing this with us! :D
