Convention Swap Two

Second convention swap card:

I stamped the stem on white paper and colored it with pumpkin ink and an aquapainter, then added highlights with a rose red marker. When it was dry I added CE on the flowers for a little extra touch. This is one of my favorite color combos!

I have posts all scheduled for the rest of the week so you won't even know I'm gone, lol. I am leaving you with some swaps I made for convention.

Here is the first one:

Happy Summer

This is a great layout, and I will definitely be using it again! I used the measurements Natasha posted. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals because of the bulk of the eyelet. The sailboat is colored with both copics and aquapainter/ink refill. The coloring is straight up no shading except for the water.

stamps - sailboat, happy summer (Morning Star)
paper - whisper white, wild wasabi, real red, soft sky, blue bayou textured
ink - Palette Burnt Umber, Not Quite Navy, white craft
acc - aquapainter, copics, jumbo eyelet

Stamp Something Friday

Now, don't die of shock, yes, that is a scrapbook page you are seeing on my blog. The impossible does happen occasionally!

Today's Stamp Something challenge is to make a scrapbook page about yourself. Now, see, here's a few things about me and scrapbooking, and scrapbooking about me. This is the 6th scrapbook page I have ever done. My main issue is that I am a terrible photographer and photo editor. I just can't ever seem to make it come out right! Then there are the self photos - none that I am very happy with, so I used the one from our family Christmas card. (If you are going to be meeting me next week, I still kinda look like this, just a little fuller in the face. Hey, what can I say, hubby had some serious medical issues these past 6 months, and I'm a stress eater.) So there you have it. Though I was reasonably pleased with how this turned out, seeing as I am not a scrapbooker by nature. Cards are just so much faster, and there is less space to fill up, lol!

So the challenge included a fair amount of limitations, but I think I got them all on there! We had to use:

1. some sort of lettered title - check
2. at least two stamped items - check
3. two different ribbons - check
4. three buttons - check
5. four brads - check
6. five facts about yourself - check

I started with a basic layout copied from a book I have called From Fine to Fabulous. This was going to be a very simple page until I re-read the challenge and realized I had to put more stuff on it! So I think I was able to accomplish the goal while maintaining a balance and making it all work together instead of looking like it was just thrown on there.

Be sure to see what the other team members have created, and post a link on the Stamp Something blog if you play along. Which I hope you do because you could win stuff!

I am also happy to report that swaps for convention are done - I finished them Wednesday afternoon, woohoo! I didn't count how many I made, but I think it was about 100. I will try to schedule some posts with my swaps for next week when I am gone. Now on to prepare for this weekend's stamp class. Yikes, what was I thinking trying to squeeze all this in! My samples are made, I just have to cut paper.

Thanks for stopping by, have a fabulous weekend!

Another Kristina CASE

This girl has such great ideas, I can't help but use them too! This is the card I cased, I just flipped it and added a sentiment treatment. I also used up some scraps of paper laying around.
I know I haven't been around lately, I have tons to do this week in preparation for a class and then convention. Plus, it's VBS week at church. So if I post, it will be quickies.

Thanks girls, I love them all!

Sometimes I feel like my life is one big game of catch-up! Anyone else feel like that? I've been tagged a few times recently, so it's time to get caught up on them. (Shamedly, some of these tags aren't so recent).

1. The Brilliant Weblog award came from my good friend Jackie Pedro. Thanks Jackie, you know it comes right back to you!

2. gave me the Arte y Pico award.

3. And Mandy, my wonderful Limelight DT coordinator/owner, gave me this:

4. And Cindy Lawrence tagged me with the 7 things about you game.

I am going to pass on passing on these awards, but consider yourself a recipient if you don't have any of these awards yet! Thanks so much for the tags, my friends!

Stamp Something Friday

Lauren is this week's hostess, and our challenge was to create something about candy, using candy, anything CANDY! So I used Beate's tutorial and made a Pull Treat. It was really easy and turned out cute! And DH can finally eat the chocolate that's been sitting around here this week, lol! Since it was for him anyway, I went with my old standby star theme to make it not girly. These are a few of SU!'s new In Colors - they are gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you get a chance to play along, post your submission on the Stamp Something blog and check out the rest of the team's samples!

I was finally able to get some more Unity stamps! So I made a late birthday card for my niece with Mixup of Cuteness.
I colored the cone with my copics, and used a glitter pen to add some sparkle. The cherry turned out a little off in my picture. I used "sweet" from Birds of a Feather.

Meet the Verve Divas Challenge 1

This card is my submission for the Meet the Verve Divas, challenge 1, over on SCS. The winner gets $15 Verve bucks! Shannan challenged everyone to make a card using saffron, pumpkin, olive, and chocolate. I'm really happy with how this turned out! I stamped 2 butterflies for each circle, notched the top of one and the bottom of the other, and slid them together to make them 3D. Here's a close-up of the butterflies. Finished card size is 5-1/2" x 3".Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a great weekend! My little boy turns 2 on Sunday, so we'll be celebrating!
stamps - Petals & Stems (Verve)
paper - olive, saffron, choc, pumpkin
ink - olive, saffron, pumpkin, choc
acc - pumpkin gg, 1-3/8" circle punch, dimensionals

Stamp Something Friday

Today's challenge was a triple play - we could only use 3 layers, 3 colors, and 3 embellishments. It was fun, but the layer thing was definitely a challenge! I wanted to sneak at least one more in there, but I restrained myself.
My three colors are rose red, pumpkin pie, and basic black. My three embellishements are black brads, a page pebble (I put the dots on it with my black copic), and ribbon. I punched out three scallops and then made them more flower-like by cutting in between each scallop. It's my new fave thing! The middle flower is popped up on a dimensional.

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to check out the rest of the team's samples!

stamps - Hugs & Wishes, Polka Dot
paper - rose red, pumpkin pie, black, rose red dsp
ink - white craft, black

Kristina's Color Challenge

I haven't played in Kristina's color challenge for a very long time, but I had some time today and nothing extremely pressing that had to be stamped, so I got to play! The cc this time was chocolate, cocoa, rust, celery, and white.
I stamped Polka Dot on the cocoa piece and cut out a circle in the lower right hand corner. I cut out a celery circle and used the reverse piece to create the celery layer. The chocolate you see under the flower is actually the base of the card. The polka dot cocoa/celery layer was popped up with dimensionals on the chocolate base after I tied a celery ribbon around it. I punched out a rust scallop and cut into it to make petals (cool trick I've seen and just now tried!), layered on a white circle, jumbo eyelet, and threaded some more celery ribbon through the eyelet to create the center of the flower. The flower is attached with more dimensionals. I stamped Hello on a rust circle and attached it under the main celery ribbon knot.

Thanks for stopping by!

stamps - Fundamental Phrases, Polka Dot
paper - chocolate, cocoa, rust, celery, ww
ink - chocolate
acc - nesties; scallop, 1", 3/4" punches; jumbo eyelet; celery gg; dimensionals

Out of the Box Hibiscus

Happy Wednesday!
I stamped the flower on a large white scrap, masked it, and stamped two more flowers around it. I then placed my oval cutting template (CM) on top and cut out the oval except around the flower petals. I hand cut around the flowers, so it looks like they are floating off the edge of the oval. I colored the flowers with copics, matted it on a black oval, and attached it with dimensionals to the black/white/rock dsp/black gingham base. An oval sentiment finishes it up!
I kept this card relatively simple, but you could kick it up a notch with some brads in the corners.

Thanks for stopping by!

stamps - Embrace Life
paper - black, ww, river rock dsp
ink - Palette noir
acc - copics, black gingham, oval cutter (CM), large oval punch, dimensionals

Sweetheart Onesie

I went to a baby shower Saturday, and made one of Lauren's onesie cards for the mommy-to-be. They are so cute!
Here is the link to Lauren's tutorial, if you haven't tried one of these adorable cards. The base is pretty in pink, the trimmings are chocolate textured cardstock (as is the 1" circle under the flower). I used the punch from the 3 for You punch box and white brads for finishing touches. The little pink flower is popped up on a dimensional. Sweetheart was stamped with PTI's Simple Alphabet.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!

stamps - Polka Dot, Simple Alpha (PTI)
paper - pretty in pink, choc textured
ink - pretty in pink, chocolate
acc - white brads; scallop, 1", 3 for You, and 1-3/8" punches; dimensionals

Stamp Something and Happy 4th!

Happy Independence Day all my fellow Americans! I am so thankful to live in this country, and thankful for all the men and women who have made our freedoms possible.
Today's Stamp Something challenge was to dazzle, bling, glitter out! So in honor of the 4th, I give you this sparkly card. I used the same colors as last week because I love them! I started with a blue bayou textured base, and attached a layer of white and sky dsp, and a half circle of real red dsp. I dug into my Lots of Letters chipboard and actually used some, yay! The letters and number have Christmas Red stickles on them, the white stars have Star Dust stickles on them, and there are random rhinestones on the card.
Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to check out the rest of the teams' samples!
stamps - Short Order Numbers, Simple Alphabet (PTI)
paper - bayou textured, ww, sky and real red dsp
