Six Chicks Ornament Spectacular

Starting today and continuing on the 6th of every month, the Limelight Six Chicks
will be posting different themed projects. Today's is an ornament with either
packaging or a card. I chose to do packaging with my 3-D ornament.
For the ornament, I cut out (with my stars Sizzix die) 8 stars from different patterns of Wassail dp. I then glued them back to back and stuck a ribbon tail with a pearl bead out the bottom before I glued the last two stars together. I punched a hole in the top, strung some gold cord through and tied a bow on it.

To make the box, I took a 4-inch square mug box that I got at my local party store. It came flat, so I didn't have to disassemble it to do my alterations. While the box was flat, I cut off the top and bottom with a craft knife and used them as my base and lid. I then threw away the middle and used transparencies as a substitute for the middle of the box. This way you can make it as tall or short as fits your need. I added more Wassail around the top and bottom for a nice border. I put tissue paper in the bottom to give it a finished look. Here's a closer view of the ornament:

Here is the decorated top of the box:

And here is how the ornament hangs from the lid: I took a paper clip and made a little hook.

So when you open the lid, the ornament comes up too.

Thanks for stopping by, check out what the other Chicks have made!
