Paper Piecing Challenge

Sharon Johnson posted a paper piecing challenge today, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I really like paper piecing. I'm not the first person to piece this bird, but it's about the only line-art set I own! I'm a solid image girl myself. My white square just "happened" to be the perfect size to fit on the pumpkin dsp and have the design be a border, love it when that happens!!! I used Bali Breeze dsp for my piecing, and I even pieced the bird's beak, crazy I know. The umbrella and sentiment are popped up on dimensionals, I pierced the white layer, and added some black grosgrain that I just got. The inside of the card reads "it's your birthday", and this will be off to someone who's having a birthday soon!
Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies:
stamps - A Little Birdie
paper - rose red, ww, basic black, Bali Breeze dsp
ink - basic black
acc - mat pack & piercer, black grosgrain, dimensionals, 1" punch, circle cutter

Thank You Berry Much

I got some new Papertrey stuff last week, and I couldn't wait to use Berry Sorbet with the strawberry from Green Thumb! The berry panel is scored 1/4" from the top and bottom for some extra sump'n sump'n, the blush panel is embossed with the swiss dots folder, and a little piercing and corner rounder scalloping finish out the card. I stamped off a little berry on the "tag", added the words, punched it out and cut off the top of the circle so it would nestle up under the ribbon without showing.
Have a great weekend if I don't see you before then!

Supplies:
stamps - Green Thumb (PTI)
paper - wasabi, ww (SU); berry sorbet, sweet blush (PTI)
ink - palett noir, berry sorbet (PTI), wasabi (SU)
acc - berry sorbet dotted ribbon (PTI), swiss dots embossing folder, corner rounder, mat pack & piercer, 1-3/8" circle punch

Look Ma, No Ribbon!

I shamelessly cased this card from one by Lori Tecler I received in a swap. She doesn't have the exact one posted that I could find, but here is a very similar one:
Lori's star card
The other significant thing about this card is that I didn't use any ribbon on it - now that's an accomplishment!

Supplies:
stamps - It's Your Birthday, Classic Backgrounds
paper - brocade blue, bashful blue, pumpkin pie, old olive, ww
ink - pumpkin pie, brocade blue
acc - large and small star punches; page pebble; silver hph; mat pack & piercer

Re-visiting a Favorite Layout

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter Sunday!
I love this layout so much I used it again! It's so easy! This is a card that was in a set I gave as a gift. The flower is traced from a die-cut bloom.
On another note, I am not impressed with SU's white EP. It melts soooo unevenly, and if I give it two layers, it turns out even worse. I will definitely be suggesting a finer powder to them.

Supplies:
stamps - Paper Tray (PTI)
paper - sky, olive prints dsp, rose red, celery, olive
ink - versamark
acc - white EP; 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" circle punches; white button; olive twill

Happy Anniversary!

My in-laws' 42nd anniversary is today, and here is the card I made for them. Congratulations Mom and Dad!

I scored a line 1/4" from the top of the bird layer, pierced in between the scallops, used my new swiss dots cuttlebug folder (yay!), embossed the words, and pierced a line leading to the words. A red heart glitter sticker (thanks Denise!) was the finishing touch.

Supplies: stamps - Anniversary Birds (Verve Visual) paper - celery, brocade, lavender, ww ink - brocade, lavender, celery, versamark acc - mat pack & piercer, corner rounder, white taffeta, white EP, swiss dots CB folder, glitter sticker (K & Co.)

Also, my computer is currently experiencing difficulties. Hopefully, the problem will be solved very quickly and I won't have to computer-hop much longer. I do have a couple things to show you, I know you can't wait to see them, teehee!

Die-cut Bloom Birthday

This was for my other sister's birthday a few weeks ago. The lines are from Live Your Dream lined up and stamped multiple times. I really gotta get that lines wheel. I also broke out the die cut blooms from the Occasions Mini, and some silver HPH. The circles are layered and mounted with dimensionals. Pretty simple card, but she liked it!

Supplies:
stamps - Mark the Date, Live Your Dream
paper - olive, chocolate, ww
ink - chocolate
acc - die cut blooms, silver HPH, dimensionals

Playing Catch-Up

I've been tagged recently by several people, and am just now getting around to playing. Dianne and Lisa tagged me with the 7 random facts thing, so here goes. I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, as this is the third time I've done this one, I think!

1. I am certified through the YMCA as a personal trainer.

2. I hate dogs. (Uh-oh, now I'm probably going to have more unsubscribers, LOL!)

3. I hate making phone calls.

4. I cannot tread water to save my life, no pun intended.

5. I love caper/heist movies!

6. Red has always been my favorite color.

7. Uh, I got nothin'.

Erin tagged me with the stamping style one, so here you are:

1.Stamping Style: Clean and simple all the way, baby!

2.Inspiration: Anything and everything. Especially my fellow Great Swappers.

3.Work Space: a 6-foot table in our dungeon of a basement, a couple bookshelves and a plastic storage cart thingy

4.Perfect Day: not having to get up with the baby, dinner out, stamping all day!

5.First Job: babysitter

6.Wildest Dream: I don't really have any wild dreams...

7.Ink: all Stampin' Up! except Palette Noir Black

8.Beverage: I try to stick to water.

9.Biggest Challenge: Time management.

10.Family: {husband} Chad {son} Adam 20 months

11.Color: Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Old Olive, Rose Red, shall I go on?

I think I remember someone tagging me with the Rockin' Blogger tag too, but I can't find who it was so I'll skip it for now. I'll try to be back with a card!

Occasions Mini Swap Card

You guys are so sweet! Thanks for all the nice comments regarding my last post. Here is the card I made for a recent swap with my group (see who they are on the left bar). It took a lot of cutting, but the end result was worth it! And I used Mono Multi again and managed not to destroy anything, woohoo!
The two flower blooms are mounted with dimensionals, as is the little butterfly. I used CE and dazzling diamonds in the centers, too.

Supplies:
stamps - Live Your Dream
paper - sky, choc textured, guava, ww, afternoon tea dsp
ink - choc, wasabi, sky, guava
acc - spiral punch; wasabi grosgrain; 1-3/8" , 1-1/4", 1/2" circle punches; dimensionals; CE; dazzling diamonds

So, I Go One Post....

.... without a card to show, and someone unsubscribes from my blog because the content is no longer relevant. Sheesh. Oh, well, whatcha gonna do? So I pulled one out for you today that has been sitting ready for uploading.
I love this color combo! I also used the chocolate SAB rub-ons. I have a much harder time using the colored rub-ons as opposed to just the black and white ones. How about you?

Supplies:
stamps - none
paper - chocolate, olive textured, rose red, pumpkin pie, rose red dsp
ink - none
acc - Love & Happiness rub-ons, spiral punch, pumpkin grosgrain, olive brad, circle cutter, dimensionals

In other news, my husband's bone scan and marrow biopsy test results came back clean! Praise the Lord! Thanks for all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers.

Sorry, No Eye Candy Today

Monday and Tuesday were a nightmare this week, we ended up in the ER and transferred downtown for emergency surgery Tuesday afternoon. My husband was able to come home Wednesday, and so far the surgery has done it's job in preventing the issue that sent us to the ER. So I got about zero sleep for three nights, and I'm still catching up. We do start radiation tomorrow for 10 days and then he'll be re-evaluated. So I'm hoping to get some stamping done next week as I am running out of thank you cards!
Thanks for all your well-wishes, and hopefully our family will get a normal life back in the near future.

Happy 50th!

We went to a surprise 50th birthday party for a friend of ours, and this is the card I came up with. I have been in a totally linear mode lately when it comes to card-making. I don't have any chipboard numbers, so I printed out some numbers on the computer, cut them out, traced them onto sheets of chipboard, and attempted to cut them out with a craft knife. Apparently, it is very true that you need a good sharp knife for these kinds of things! I managed to not mangle the numbers terribly thanks to my sanding blocks! I covered them with chocolate craft ink and embossed several layers of glassy glaze on them. I'm really loving the Women of Life set from Papertrey, it's really cool.

Supplies:
stamps - Celebrate Everything, Wanted, Women of Life (PTI)
paper - chocolate, ww, river rock, river rock dsp
ink - chocolate, olive craft
acc - artichoke gg, silver HPH, homemade chipboard numbers, glassy glaze ep

I finally got a watermark! No, actually I've had the watermark, I finally found a free download that lets me use it (thanks, Tammy)!
