Kristina's Color Challenge

Isn't this gorgeous? It's Kristina's Color Challenge for today. The colors are very vanilla, soft sky, close to cocoa, and chocolate chip. These are very elegant colors together, to me, so I made a wedding card. The card base is poison ivory shimmery cardstock. I stamped the swirl from Baroque Motifs in cocoa craft ink on a sky piece, and mounted it on a cocoa piece. I tied a chocolate ribbon around the layers and adhered it on the base with dimensionals. I stamped the & in sky ink on a scrap of poison ivory, stamped the mr. and mrs. in cocoa classic ink on top of it using the SAMJ, punched it out with my 1-3/8" circle punch, layered it on a chocolate 1-1/2" circle, and adhered it to the front of the card. There you have it, an easy peasy wedding card!

Don't forget to comment on this post to have a chance to win my blog candy! Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies: stamps - Together Forever, Baroque Motifs paper - poison ivory, close to cocoa, soft sky, chocolate chip ink - cocoa classic and craft, soft sky acc - chocolate satin ribbon, dimensionals, circle punches

Monday GSG Challenge and More Stuff

This is for the GSG Monday challenge. Today Jessie came up with a great sketch, and here is what I came up with! I used Mark the Date along with Full Calendar as they haven't seen ink for awhile. I stamped the calendar in bayou ink, filled in the circles with soft sky ink, and hand wrote the numbers with olive marker. I adhered that to the main panel with dimensionals. I punched out the sky and olive circles, and also punched out a 1" circle to put on the sky circle to serve as a guide for piercing in a circle. I added the flower treatment and adhered the circles to the card.

In other news, my counter hit 25,000, so I am rustling up some blog candy! Also, sadly, this is my last week being in my 20's. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, it's weird. Lauren Meader is my birthday twin, though she doesn't know me from Adam!

Supplies:
stamps - Mark the Date, Full Calendar
paper - old olive, soft sky, blue bayou, ww, pumpkin, jersey shore dsp
ink - old olive, blue bayou, pumpkin, soft sky, old olive
acc - circle punches (1-3/8, 1-1/4"), pumpkin striped gg, boho flower punch, white brads, fire square rhinestone brads, dimensionals

Star Card and Some Other Stuff

I love the large star punch, and this stamp from Classic Backgrounds that matches it! I was going for a nautical color combo here, based on some patio furniture cushions I saw at Kohl's. The whole main layer is popped up, as is the red star.

In other news, I spent a good part of the day yesterday in Akron at the Adventures In Stamping convention. I got to meet some stamping celebrities! Sherry Cheever (BadSherry), Shelly Kuck (papermoon04), and Juliana Swanson (Julesiana) were all working at the Rubbernecker booth. They were all very kind, gracious, and sweet! It was nice to put faces with names I was familiar with, and chat with them for a few minutes in between demos.

Thanks for stopping by, hope your weekend is going well!

Supplies:
stamps - Classic Backgrounds, Birthday Basics (PTI)
paper - bashful blue, buckaroo blue, ww, pumpkin textured
ink - real red, buckaroo blue
acc - red striped grosgrain, silver brads, circle cutter, dimensionals, page pebble

I Love Strawberries!

I totally cased this card from Robin at About a Girl. I have a hard time using all the pieces in my Hodge Podge Hardware, so I just had to do this when I saw her card! I stamped the strawberry on a white scrap, punched it out with the 1" circle punch, and adhered it inside the label holder with a little Mono Multi. I cuttlebugged the light pink piece with the swiss dots folder, and layered it on the darker pink. I attached the label holder with the brads, tied a wasabi ribbon around it, and adhered the whole thing to a white card base. I stamped happy birthday to finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps - Green Thumb and Birthday Basics (PTI)
paper - berry sorbet and sweet blush (PTI), ww
ink - berry sorbet, sweet blush, palette noir, wasabi
acc - silver HPH, wasabi ribbon, swiss dots EF

Little Birdie and an Award

Happy Tuesday! I love this little birdie, and I love to paper piece him/her. I also love the Afternoon Tea designer series paper, such pretty colors! I stamped the bird in palette noir twice, once on my white panel and once on a sky scrap. I cut out the body from the sky scrap and adhered it on the white panel-stamped bird. I did the same thing with the umbrella, using wasabi and chocolate scraps. I finished it up with some strips of the Afternoon Tea paper, a punched-out sentiment, and a flag with a brad.

Supplies:
stamps - A Little Birdie
paper - sky, ww, guava, wasabi, chocolate, Afternoon Tea
ink - palette noir
acc - vintage brads, 1" circle punch

And my award:
Leigh Ann and Sara both gave me this award - thanks girls!

Here are the details: The award was originally designed by Eseya at arte y pico . You pick five blogs that you think earned this award based on their creativity, design, interesting material, and contribution to the blogging community. List the names on your blog and link to their blogs. Leave a comment on one of their posts to let them know of the award! Each winner has to show the award and put the name of the person who gave them the award with a link to their blog. Also show the link to arte y pico.

There are so many great blogs out there, so I am going to try to pick only five, and hopefully ones that haven't received this yet:

GSG Color Challenge

I made this for the GSG blog color challenge: regal rose, so saffron, and certainly celery. Anyone can play, just make a card and post a link on that blog so we can check them out! I have seen these scalloped nestabilities cards, and as my circle nesties just came I wanted to try it out. The flower is chipboard that I craft-inked with regal rose and embossed with glassy glaze. The sentiment, piercing, and button (it's actually apricot, but matches saffron quite well!) finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great Monday!

Supplies:
stamps - Absolutely Fabulous
paper - celery, ww, saffron dsp
ink - regal rose classic and craft
acc - circle nesties, On Board Blossoms & Basics, glassy glaze EP, fresh favorites 1 buttons, mat pack & piercer

Kristina's Color Challenge

I know, can you believe it, I posted two days in a row! And this is my second post today!
Kristina's color challenge today was So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, and Close to Cocoa. I made two cards, but I like the top one better.
I used my nestabilities to cut my two bigger circles, my 1" punch for the saffron circle, and my star punches. I stamped the star in celery on scrap paper, then used my SMALL star punch to punch out the middle, then used my large star punch to punch the whole star out of the scrap. The star is popped up with dimensionals, and I added a button, a sentiment, and the ribbon.

I love the retired set Fresh Fruit! I inked up the pineapple base with saffron ink, then rolled the edges in cocoa ink. I did the same thing with the stem, except with celery and cocoa inks. I mounted it on a piece of cocoa paper and tied a chocolate ribbon around the edge. I inked up my Canvas background in bashful blue ink, and rubbed the edges in cocoa ink to make it look a little distressed. I mounted the pineapple on the base with dimensionals, stamped the sentiment in cocoa craft ink, and added some piercing (that you can't really see).

Supplies: (small wonder)
stamps - Classic Backgrounds, So Many Sayings
paper - white textured (Bazzill), cocoa, bashful blue, saffron, ww
ink - cocoa, celery
acc - circle nesties, 1" circle punch, large and small star punches, SS buttons, white crochet thread, bashful taffeta, dimensionals

Supplies: (Welcome)
stamps - Fresh Fruit, Canvas
paper - bashful, cocoa, ww
ink - saffron, celery, cocoa, bashful classic; cocoa craft
acc - chocolate grosgrain, mat pack & piercer, dimensionals

Iced Flowers

I made this easy card a while ago, but it works for Sharon Johnson's challenge from last Friday, which was to use glitter. The "white" cardstock is shimmery cryogen white Curious (it's not a bright white AT ALL, I was disappointed) from cutcardstock.com. I colored the Pretties flowers with my lavender and eggplant inkpads, ran them under water for just a few seconds to lighten them, and heat set them very carefully. I then smashed them in versamark and Iridescent Ice EP and heated again. I scored 4 lines 1/4" apart on the base and attached the flowers with Mono Multi, added a half-back pearl (I know it doesn't really match my "white" cardstock), and added the sentiment in eggplant.
Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Paper Tray (PTI)
paper - shimmery cryogen white (Curious)
ink - lavender, eggplant, versamark
acc - II EP, Pretties kit

Contest Card

Thanks for all your wonderful comments about the recipe box - my mom LOVED it and was so surprised! And now my sister wants one. Anyone want to get rid of some chipboard letters, lol?

I made this card for Stampin' Up!'s monthly contest, but alas I didn't win. Oh well. One of my personal goals is to submit every month for their contest. I have made it so far except for February, but that was just all-around a bad month here! You can't really see it, but there is a line of piercing that extends from the Thanks to the left edge of the card. I used dazzling diamonds and crystal effects on the flower centers.
Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Live Your Dream
paper - chocolate, ww, Afternoon Tea dsp
ink - guava, wasabi, versamark
acc - wasabi ribbon, silver HPH brad, white EP, dazzling diamonds, CE, circle cutter, dimensionals

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday. She is the best mom ever. So I made her this card, designed by Nichole Heady. You can see in the second picture how it opens up.

Now, my mom is not a stamper, but she loves what I make and what she gets! Everytime she looks through my catalog, she stops on page 105, looks at the recipe box, and wishes she had it. She is even now looking for a box that will work for me to make her that recipe holder. Because as much as I love my mom, I am not paying $30 plus $8.95 shipping for the exact box from the Container Store. She will be very surprised when she opens this tonight:

I got the tin from Joann's for $5.99 (well, less than that with my coupon), and basically copied what was shown in the catalog. I did have to cut out another "e" from scrap chipboard, because the chipboard Lots of Letters only comes with one of each letter.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (birthday card): stamps - Women of Life (PTI) paper - ww, wasabi, chocolate, lavender, soft sky dsp ink - chocolate, wasabi, versamark acc - chocolate brads (Darico), chocolate taffeta, mat pack & piercer, pretties kit, dimensionals, acetate, clear EP

Supplies (recipe tin) stamps - From the Kitchen Of, Dotted Lines jumbo wheel, All In a Row paper - chocolate, sahara sand, pomegranate, pumpkin, olive, bashful blue, olive dsp ink - chocolate craft, pomegranate classic, markers acc - bashful blue taffeta, flower fusion, SS buttons, caramel gingham, On Board Lots of Letters, scrap chipboard (for extra "e" and dividers), On Board Blossoms and Basics (circles), 1" circle punch, tin (Joann's), white crochet thread

Colorful Case

I just love this layout and colors! This card was cased from a recent Stamper's Success magazine. I layered a strip of Bali Breeze dsp and a teal strip on a rose red card base. The sentiment is stamped in white craft ink on the teal strip, and olive grosgrain goes around the whole card. I stamped the flower in rose red ink on white scrap, cut it out, added a punched olive center and white brad. The flower is attached to the card with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Big Blooms, Women of Life (PTI)
paper - rose red, taken with teal, old olive, Bali Breeze dsp
ink - white craft, rose red classic
acc - white brad, 3/4" circle punch, dimensionals, olive grosgrain

Color Blocking Challenge

I have swaps to finish up, but I squeezed in a card challenge. Sharon Johnson posts a challenge every Friday, and today's was color blocking. I'm not sure if I achieved it, but I like the card anyway! I saw this color combo in a stack of towels as I was shopping with my mom today, though the green towel was a bit more yellow. Alas, I have no cardstock that color, so I made do with celery.
I actually used a white base to adhere my color strips to, it is just easier for me. I wheeled the dots on the celery piece, left the coral piece alone, and pierced the bottom edge of the ruby piece. I punched a hole in the ghost heart and tied the ribbon around the color strip and throught the heart. I stamped the sentiment and then attached the whole colored strip to the chocolate card base using dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps - Absolutely Fabulous, Dotted Lines jumbo wheel
paper - chocolate, celery, coral, ruby
ink - chocolate
acc - mat pack & piercer, dotted ribbon, Heidi Swapp clear heart

Happy Hellos!

This card is patterned after the one on p. 79 of the SU catalog. I love that card, so I tried to adapt it to what I had, and this is what came out! I really love the colors, so springy. Speaking of spring, we have had two days of it! Woohoo! Not that it's going to last, but it is a nice change.
Details from the top down:
The butterflies are stamped in eggplant ink on lavender paper and highlighted with a white gel pen. The flowers are stamped in lavender ink on white paper and highlighted with stickles. The birds are clear-embossed on teal paper (I tried to use my SAMJ to line them up straight, but it was HARD!). The words are white-embossed on eggplant paper. The card base is wasabi, and a little soft sky ribbon finishes it up.
Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Live Your Dream, Lots of Thoughts
paper - wasabi, lavender, ww, teal, eggplant
ink - eggplant, lavender, versamark
acc - white & clear EPs, sky grosgrain, white gel pen, stickles
