Swap Card 1

Here's a swap card I used for a couple different groups. For the main image, I used sponge daubers to apply ink to the flowers, and colored the stems with a marker. On the sentiment strip, I used the photo corner punch to make the flag end.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Inspired By Nature
paper - tangerine, choc, ww, olive
ink - tangerine, choc, rhred, olive marker

Do you love GAMES? Who doesn’t?!?
Do you love GREAT DEALS? Of course you do!
Do you love PRIZES? Then you’ve come to the right place!

Have you ever played "What's in Your Purse"? It's a game where the leader calls out a random item that people might have in their purses. The first person to produce that item wins a prize. FUN, right? So…we are going to play a DIGITAL version of that game! I am going to "call out" a random item on this blog every two hours on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4 (from 8am-8pm). You will need to find that item in your home (or you can go track it down ANYWHERE if you really want to!), take a picture of it, and post it on your blog or Flicker accounts, etc. Leave me a comment with the link, and I will draw a random winner from everyone who posts a picture of that item. If posting to a blog is a problem, I will accept e-mailed photos, too! :) You will have one hour to post the picture for each challenge, then I will post the winner in that hour before the next item is called. LOTS OF FUN, right?!?!?

A few of my design team members will also be hosting one-time-stop games…. GUESSING GAMES and the like! The best part of all of this? THE PRIZES!!! There will be over $200 worth of GIVEAWAYS on World Card Making Day!! On my blog alone, I’ll be giving away almost $200 worth! What kinds of things will be up for grabs, you ask? Prize packages will contain stamps, papers, and accessories from UNITY STAMP COMPANY, PRIMA, JUSTJOHANNA’S ODD BIRD PLANET, BASIC GREY, GLITZ DESIGN, STAMPENDOUS, and lots MORE!!!!
Be sure to check out our WCMD ad on Splitcoaststampers.com on Friday, October 3!!! YAY! Our wonderful graphic designer friend has designed the COOLEST, CUTEST ad EVER!!!! It will advertise our WCMD games, giveaways, and sales. See our cool new banner? That's from part of the ad!!

Woohoo, lots of fun and prizes, hope you can join us!

Housekeeping and Shine

First of all, I want to thank you for your kind comments about my husband's medical issue. We are still waiting for a surgery date.

Second, I have resigned the Rubber Cafe design team position in light of the above. It was just too overwhelming to think about having to meet more obligations and responsibilities. We are going into what I call "Simple Life Mode", cutting out extra plans and responsibilities to cut down on MY stress when he has to recover and I will be doing EVERYTHING again. But you do what you have to, I am not complaining. So, for me, please take a moment to be thankful for your health and the health of your family. Don't take it for granted, you never know when your life will change!

I've never been able to play along with Unity's Hip Hop Thursdays until this week. This card was for the favorite quote/favorite dsp challenge. Any color of SU's Patterns paper is my favorite (for now), so I picked baja because it would match the clouds. I used a clear spica glitter pen on all the cutouts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Shine (Unity)
paper - choc, kraft, baja, tangerine, marigold, kiwi, baja patterns
ink - choc craft
acc - spica clear glitter pen, dimensionals, kiwi ribbon

Stamp Something Friday

Today's Stamp Something challenge, was to (are you ready for this?) stamp something!!! So I did.
I stamped the cookies in rich cocoa memento ink and colored with copics. I even used the colorless blender for the first time for something other than fixing mistakes, lol! The spiral punch and some ribbon add the final touches.
Make sure you check out the rest of the team's samples, and go stamp something! This week's candy is hosted by Kim from MFT, so you know it will be great!

Supplies:
stamps - Baked With Love (CHF)
paper - kraft, choc, pretty in pink, ww
ink - rich cocoa memento, copics
acc - spiral punch, circle punch, rose gg, dimensionals, corner rounder

For a Cause

While google-reading lately, I came across several mentions of Cammie (Carolyn King)'s efforts to host a challenge to benefit something that is very dear to her. So I checked it out, and she has asked for all who participate to please send a thank you to someone who cares for Alzheimers patients. Please see this post for details. A lot of companies and individuals have donated approx. $1000 in products for the random lucky winner that posts the card he/she sent for this cause. I am glad to be able to participate in this challenge - I know how very difficult it is to be a caregiver!
So here's my very simple card that will be sent off to hopefully brighten someone's day by letting them know they are appreciated! Will you join this cause?

Some good news and some not so good news

Good news first:
I have been chosen to be on the design team for The Rubber Cafe! I will be adding links for the rest of the team and such in the near future.

And the not-so-good news:
My husband's medical saga continues. We found out Wednesday that he will be undergoing occipital-cervical fusion surgery in the near future. It was scheduled to be on Tuesday, but it's been postponed to make sure his previous staph infections are gone. Ugh. The roller coaster continues. I'll try to update when we get a date, but you'll probably figure it out when the posts come down to a trickle!

Have a good one.

Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge!

I can't believe, but I missed my blogaversary! It was a year ago on Sept. 6 that I started this thing, and I am so happy that it has brought some really wonderful people into my life. It's kind of like chatting with friends! Thanks to all of you who stop by, whether you comment or not.

Today's Limelight sketch and product challenge will feature ribbon from Limelight! As you'll notice in the sketch there are 4 panels behind the main circle, they should be ribbon! There are so many gorgeous ribbons over at Limelight, that it should be tough to pick just four! Here are the important details:
**Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on ribbon from Limelight.
**Enter to win an assortment of ribbon by leaving a comment and a link to your card on Mandy's blog.
**Entries must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, September 21st.
Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC004

Sorry I have no sample for you today. Check out what the other Limelight Ladies have come up with though! (Links on my sidebar). Good news and not so good news I'll be sharing with you shortly.

TWO Scrapbook Pages!!!

You all know my issues with scrapbooking as previously described. However, my friend Lisa gave me some great encouragement. One of my issues with scrapbooking is not having what I think are good pictures. She told me the most important thing is to get the pictures on the page, and she's right. So I printed out some pictures and here you go. This first page is a layout from the Got Sketch 101 class I enrolled in. I plan to make a companion page to this first one, but I need to print another picture or two for it.
This second page I came up with all by myself, but I'm not sure you can really call it a layout. But it was quick, and this picture was a loner.
I have decided that my scrapbooking style is going to be even cleaner and simpler than my cardmaking. I was able to make these two pages in about an hour.
So, thank you Lisa, for your encouragement! And now I think I kinda like scrapbooking, so you might see some more pages once in a while!
We had some pretty crazy wind last evening, and lost power for a few hours. Thankfully my in-laws live very close and had power, so we spent a couple hours there. There are lots of branches littering the neighborhood, but nothing was damaged that I can see.
Thanks for stopping by!

I've always thought Billy was so adorable, and I finally had a chance to pick him up from Limelight. I stamped the cherries twice, once on a scrap and once on a white circle. I colored the ones on scrap with copics, cut them out, and popped them up on top of the stamped ones on the white circle. I'm really liking these bows too, if you couldn't tell!

Stamp Something Friday

Melissa is our host today, and she gave us this picture for an Inspiration Challenge:
And here is my take on the cherry purse!I cut 1/4" strips of white cardstock and adhered them to a black layer, added the green piece, wrapped it in red ribbon, and layered it on a white base. I stamped the cherries on white, colored them with copics, and punched it out with the new 1-3/4" circle punch. I attached the cherry circle with dimensionals and added some CE for a nice shine! I stamped the sentiment on wasabi and added a new filigree brad for some fun bling!

Jen's SFYTT

Though I always stalk Jen's sketches (and blog for that matter!), this is the first time I've participated. I used this sketch. The card size is 5 x 5. I love the colors in the Haiku dsp, so I used them and added baja breeze for fun! I made a swap card similar to this, and I'll be showing that to you soon as I don't think any of the participants of that swap read my blog.

Thanks for stopping by today, stop by Mandy's blog, she's got some great blog candy!

Boy Birthday

This card uses Natasha's Fall-to Layout 11. I REALLY like turquoise with pacific point. I never use brilliant blue, so pacific point will do nicely for when I need a "boy" blue! Plus, I used a button from my bold brights collection, woohoo! The star is popped up with a dimensional.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - On Your Birthday
paper - pacific, turquoise, pumpkin, ww, olive patterns dsp
ink - pacific
acc - BB buttons, large star punch, circle nesties, photo corner punch, dimensionals, white gg

Getting Older

I combined ideas from two cards I saw to make this , and I'm super happy with how it turned out. I think it's my fave for right now, lol! I'll have to make another to look at because this one is going in the mail tomorrow for someone who's celebrating the big 4-0 milestone.
The branch and bird are from a new set in the SU Holiday Mini called Season of Friendship. I cut off a branch because the whole tree is quite large! I used the Simple Alphabet from PTI for the sentiment, which reads: getting older is for the BIRDS! I think the rest of the card is self-explanatory, but don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Season of Friendship, Simple Alpha
paper - RHred patterns dsp, baja breeze, ww, kraft
ink - chocolate, olive, RHred
acc - oval nesties, choc gg, in color buttons, white crochet thread, dimensionals

Pieced Teapot

Just a quick little post today. I pieced the teapot with Basic Grey Sultry dsp, and put it on a "tablecloth" made from cutting a scallop square in half and adding piercing. I mounted the teapot/tablecloth on more Sultry and chocolate papers, and there you have it! There isn't room for a sentiment, so I'll stick one on the inside before this goes somewhere!

Thanks for stopping by today! Tomorrow I'll have a card for you that uses a new set from the upcoming Holiday Mini, so don't miss it!

Supplies:
stamps - Mix-up of Cuteness (Unity)
paper - Sultry dsp, chocolate chip, ww
ink - memento rich cocoa
acc - scallop square punch, paper piercer

Congrats, Inge! Please send me your mailing address to becky(at)lakeshorestamper(dot)com, and I'll get your stuff out to you!

I really enjoyed reading about your favorite fall things, thanks everyone for playing! My favorite things about fall are the cooler weather, college football, apple cider, making soup, and wearing jeans and sweatshirts! Our days are getting shorter and shorter here, so I know fall is right around the corner!

Stamp Something Friday!

Today's challenge at Stamp Something was Fall Somethings. I don't have a lot of fall stamps just because I haven't found ones I REALLY like, so I present to you:
Mr. Faux Acorn
I used the round tab punch and smallest oval punch to make Mr. Acorn and drew a little stem on top. I popped it up on dimensionals and mounted it on a few layers. I inked up my Sanded background (which I haven't used in a while) with versamark and stamped it on a kraft card base. Kraft is becoming my card base of choice these days - I love it! I finished off the card with a little ribbon, but used a button instead of a knot.
Thanks for stopping by, be sure to check and see what the other designers have come up with!

Supplies:
stamps - EFP, Sanded
paper - kraft, chocolate, ww, olive patterns dsp
ink - chocolate, versamark
acc - round tab punch, smallest oval punch, dimensionals, 1-3/4" circle punch, chocolate gg, olive button, white crochet thread

I folded a piece of cardstock in half and ran it through my CB with the Top Note die hanging off the edge slightly so the card will still open up. I then Top Noted a piece of Hawaii Papaya dsp and trimmed off at the scored edge to layer on top of my card base. I finished it off with some ribbon, of course, and a little sentiment and flower.

Still time to enter my blog candy giveaway!
