Sweet Thing

A nice springy card is in order for today, but boy was it hard to switch gears from Christmasy/wintery stuff! My friend Jackie does this awesome layering thing with ghost shapes and buttons and stuff, and this is my attempt at it. The card needs something else, but nothing was working so I left it alone.

Warm Winter Wishes

Well, I thought my life would be getting back to normal today, but my little boy is not feeling well. We had family gatherings Sat, Sun, and Mon, but now I'm done! And there's enough leftovers in the fridge so I don't have to cook real soon.

My Christmas Card(s)

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We did! So here is what I ended up making for the few Christmas cards I sent out this year. We normally do a picture card, but that didn't happen this year. We got our pictures taken, but I still don't have the disc with them on it in my hands. So Christmas pictures will go out late this year!

2 More Christmas Cards

I don't know about you, but I don't know where December went! I still have to wrap all presents, and I managed to send out some Christmas cards. Most went out Saturday, but some didn't get out until this week. Oh well. We normally do a picture card, but it just didn't happen this year.
Yes, that is a pieced bird if you couldn't tell! The dp I picked was a little too dark for the bird. And I couldn't get a decent picture.

Cutest Snowman EVER!

I just love this snowman, isn't he cute? I stamped him on white scraps, colored him with copics, and cut him out. The patterned paper is from American Crafts Christmas line. I punched out a snowflake and attached it with a Bazzill bling brad.

Stamp Something Friday

Today's Stamp Something Challenge was Red, Green, and Gold Somethings. I added some white to mine.
I embossed several snowflakes in white on the olive layer, then added more flakes with white craft ink. I layered the green layer on some gold shimmer paper and tied a gold organdy bow around it before attaching it to my red card base. I stamped the sentiment (I LOVE Verve's fonts) on scrap, punched it out, and slapped in on the front of the card. And there you have it!

Whether it's your first snowfall or your 50th, you can't help but be mesmerized by the beauty of falling snow. Today we celebrate snow and say "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" Let's see those snowflakes and snowmen stamps! Mesmerize us with snowy fun flock hills and glistening trees covered in snow. Anything with snow goes in this sketch and product challenge!

And my sample. I went with non-traditional snowflake colors. Basically, I wanted to use the Wassail paper, so I made the snowflake go with it, lol!

I cut different strips of Wassail and attached them to a kraft card base. I stamped the snowflake, rotated my stamp and stamped again without reinking, then went over the first snowflake with Angel Wings Shimmerz. I tied a knot and added some red pearls. Can I just say I love all the Kaisercraft pearls and rhinestones? They are fantastic and you get a lot of them in one little package at a great price! I have linked the products used here in the recipe below.

And a card: it's been a few days since I've been able to stamp, but Sunday afternoon I was able to get this done. I've been dying to get the Unity distressed dots background, and guess what? My Unity secret santa Lisa got it for me, woohoo! And the Unity Luke 2:14 Angel came to me last week also, so I paired them up.

I also sponged around the celery and rose red layers and used various Shimmerz paints on the angel so she really sparkles! All these stamps and embellishments are available at Limelight.

Six Chicks Spectacular

Happy Saturday to you! There's lots going on around these here parts, phew! First up is the Limelight Six Chicks December Spectacular. We were challenged to create packaging for baked treats/goodies, plus a matching card or recipe card. Here is my ensemble: I saved a take out box and deconstructed it just a bit to make patterns for my patterned paper to cover the sides. I also redid the corners because they were folded and glued on the outside, and it was too bulky to put paper over. So I cut off part of the fold and made it attach on the inside of the box. Here you can get an idea of what the box looked like originally: take-out box.
I used Dingaling Diamonds and Winter Wonderland patterned paper (both by TaDa) to cover the sides of the box. I tied it shut with parakeet tulle. To make the bow, I tied one just regular. I then took the two ends and tied another one right on top and ended up with 4 loops. Adds just a little something extra to the top! To make the tag, I stamped Sleigh Ride on white scrap, colored it with copics and glitter pens, cut it out with oval nesties, and matted it on another oval cut from Dashing Through the Snow. I tied it to the bow with a little bit of silver cord.



And inside the box are two kinds of cookies. One is Snickerdoodle Sandies from Sandra Lee, and the other is plain oatmeal from a mix. Hey, what can I say, it was in my pantry and it was fast and easy! I put each cookie in a clear cellophane bag and tied them shut with different ribbons:

Red Striped
Sage Twill
White Twill

And here is the recipe card. I cut a piece of kraft cardstock to 4x6, and layered on a piece of Dashing Through the Snow. I punched out a circle of pomegranate cardstock and attached it, and added a white twill knot. I wrote the recipe with a white signo gel pen. And let me tell you, these cookies are GOOD! So soft and delicious!

I saved a glass bottle that had pop (or soda for you that call it that) in it previously, washed off the label, and filled it with Russian Tea. I tied a Sage Twill bow on it to make it festive.

Snickerdoodle Sandies (from Sandra Lee)

1/2 c. sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

1 pouch (17.5 oz) sugar cookie mix

4 oz. softened cream cheese

1 egg

1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Combine 1/4 c. sugar and the next six ingredients. Combine 1/4 c. sugar with the cinnamon in a separate bowl. Form 1" balls of dough and roll them in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 min. (Mine took a bit longer to cook all the way through.)

Russian Tea (good cold or hot) (from my mom)

Stamp Something Friday

Today's Stamp Something Challenge was Snow Somethings! It is being sponsored by Firecracker Designs, so I used the images Erin sent me.
I colored the image with a blender pen and the ink from the lids of my inkpads. There is clear spica glitter pen on the snowballs and a rhinestone on the snowflake.
