I posted this over on the CAS blog, so it's pulling double-duty today! Isn't this paper just darling? I've been waiting for the perfect time to use it!
Can I just say I am so done with winter? We got 4 more inches Friday, and my pictures are terrible because there is very little sunlight. Ugh.
Thanks for stopping by, hope your weekend is going great!

A pretty quick and easy birthday card for today. I colored the ice cream cone with copics, cut it out, and popped it up on a white scallop. I stamped the sentiment in white craft and choc classic and tied a big old knot on the top. I added CE to the "fudge". I am sending this to DBU, get the details here.

Together & Other Stuff

I feel like I'm still not back into my routine after it got messed up a week ago. DH's car died, so I lost two days of stamping time while we were out looking for another one. Thankfully we found a great deal! I also had a stamping class squeezed in, and so I lost more stamping time because I have to cart everything upstairs and leave it for two days. So I was very happy to get back into my stamping studio and discover that my mojo didn't disappear!
We got another foot of snow yesterday on top of the stuff we already had. The wall of snow on the side of our driveway is up to the car windows. DH thankfully didn't have to work, so he was out snowblowing the neighborhood and helping get cars unstuck from the end of driveways. It was crazy snowy! It snowed the whole night before and stopped somewhere around 6pm yesterday. There were over 500 school closings in the area. Needless to say, we stayed home! Denise, I still have hot chocolate, when are you coming to see me?

I've been iPicked! Thanks Nancy, glad you enjoyed the card! This is the card she chose.

And here's card that could be anniversary or valentine's or whatever!
I've had this set for awhile, but it just saw ink for the first time yesterday. I stamped the owls on two different sheets of patterned paper and cut and pieced various parts of them. The smaller owl is popped up on dimensionals. I had a question from a reader asking how I attach buttons, and all I use is SU's mini glue dots.

have a sweet day!

I thought a card like this was a good way to use patterned paper. So I punched out 3 hearts from Urban Prairie paper and popped them up. The sentiment is from Delectable Delights , embossed in white. An Urban Prairie button dresses up the black/silver reversible ribbon.

More Pink Cat release samples

Here are two more samples I made for this month's Pink Cat release:
Notes: I embossed the gray piece with swiss dots, then ran my ink pad over the top so the raised dots caught some ink. I gave Lily and Billy patent leather shoes with my black glaze pen. The layout is from the new SU catalog. Oh, and the sentiment really isn't crooked like that IRL.

I made Kiki stripe-ity (can you tell we watch Tigger and Pooh in this house? lol). The layout is also from the new SU catalog.

Sparkly Love

I was trying to do something out-of-the box for me, but I'm not sure what it is, lol! Anyway, here is the color combo of the week again. I die cut a bunch of hearts from acetate, if you look close you can see them. I used vellum tape to adhere them, but it isn't completely invisible. The chipboard letters are sparkly (American Crafts), and the buttons are from various lines of Basic Grey.
Thanks for stopping by!

What's Shakin, Sugar?

This is the second card I made on my recent afternoon of productivity. It's a very basic layout, but I tried to jazz it up a little.
The base is Chocolate Box Black Cherry coredinations cardstock. I ran the top half through my Big Shot with the Swiss Dots embossing folder, then sanded the raised part so the red/pink shows through. I got the idea from Brandi, isn't it cool? I added a river rock panel and a bit of Bittersweet patterned paper. I cut out an oval from shimmery white cs and stamped the sentiment from Delectable Delights, then added the scallops by punching out circles from the same black cherry cs I used earlier and adhering them on the underside of the oval. I stamped the lollipop, also from Delectable Delights, on shimmery white. I colored it with copics, painted the bow with coffee shimmerz , added a snow pearl to the knot, and cut it out. I attached the oval to the base with dimensionals, and added the lollipop with another layer of dimensionals. Some more pearls on the bottom finish the card. Seriously, the pearls are fantastic, and you get a lot in the package. If you haven't tried them, you need to!

Heart Tree

So the past couple days that I've sat down to stamp have not gone so well. I just couldn't focus, had no mojo, etc. Well, today was different. I found a few layouts that I was able to tweak and make my own, the colors were working, and I actually cranked out two cards in a relatively short period of time! This was the first one. I stamped one of the trees from Limitless Limbs in black and added celery leaves and rose red hearts. You can't see it in the picture, but I painted over all the hearts with angel wings shimmerz. I matted the tree on a rose red piece and added a black scalloped edge. I stamped HVD from Lily & Billy Sweethearts in black on regal rose, punched it out with the key tag punch, and threaded some reversible black/silver ribbon through a slot and tied a ribbon. I did some piercing along the right edge of the tree layer as a finishing element.

And some Limelight specials:

Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge

One trend has become VERY noticeable in the paper-crafting industry in the past year: textured products! We have textured cardstock, embossing, fuzzy ribbons, fun flock, and lots of other products that make paper crafting fun to the touch! So this week we ask you: Why don't you reach out and touch....some textured products? (Diana Ross, anyone??) Limelight Papercrafts carries some gorgeous ribbons that are fuzzy, silky, and smooth. Or if that doesn't appeal to you, how about Fun Flock in 9 fun colors!? What about the new Core'dinations textured cardstock? If it's got texture, use it! If you don't have anything from Limelight, that's ok! Use what you do have!

*Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on textured products.
*Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC012.
*Participants should post a comment and a link to their card on Mandy's blog. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, January 11th , at midnight to win a Coredinations Chocolate Box paper pack!

My sample: yes, mine is different because I cut my paper wrong. Tell me I'm not the only one that does that when cutting on a diagonal!

Anyway, I used the set Giggle Grove by Unity, available at Limelight. This set has been on my "to get" list for a very long time, and I was finally able to get this month. I started by stamping the tree on scrap paper and cutting out the inside to make a reverse mask. I then put the mask on a piece of Coredinations Chocolate Box Pistachio Nut cardstock and using sandpaper to remove the chocolate "top", revealing the green underneath. I then stamped the tree over it (using my SAMJ) in versamark and embossing in white. I stamped the birdie on Bittersweet patterned paper and cut her out. The hearts on the tree are from Limitless Limbs, cut out and adhered. The sentiment is from Lily and Tweet. I finished off the card with a Bittersweet button and a rose pearl.

Thanks for stopping by, don't miss what the rest of the team made!

January Limelight Project Parade

This month's Project Parade is a project you would do with or for kids. So I chose a project for a kid. I made a Memory game, complete with cards and a holder. Here's the outside:

Inside view:

Inside view 2:

And the game cards:

To make the cards: I cut out 1-1/2" white squares and stamped a bunch of matching accessories from Dress Up Billy and Dress Up Lily. I colored them very quickly and simply with copics. I mounted them on 1-3/4" black squares. There are 20 cards total, 10 each of different items.

To make the holder/pouch: I cut a 3-1/4" x 12" piece of spooky circles/black swirls paper, and scored at 5, 5-1/2, 10-1/2, and 11". The spooky circle side didn't go well with my theme, so I covered up that side with various patterns of Offbeat paper. I added a self-adhesive velcro dot to keep it closed. On the outside, I used a cuttlebug alphabet (red tag) for the letters and some more Offbeat paper. I added some white crochet thread to an Offbeat button and attached it to the front with glue dots. On the inside, I attached a clear plastic baggie (it's actually the bag that ribbon comes in from Limelight - there, I recycled and reused!) with 4 eyelet brads.

Head on over to the other design team members' blogs and see what they have come up with!

Happy New Year in a card

I actually made these for yesterday's post, but it was long enough as is! Thank you for your
sweet comments - it felt good to put it all in writing and get it out.

You may have also noticed that it was Friday today, and I don't have anything for the stamp something challenge. I have decided to step down from my position due to my other stamping obligations. It was fun and a great opportunity! I hope you'll continue to visit the stamp something challenge blog.

These are very clean, simple, and easy cards. The layout is from Verve. Chad had asked me to make some cards to send to some choice clients, so this is a great layout to whip up some cards fast.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had fun and were safe during your New Year's celebrations! We stayed home and did nothing but recover from the long weekend we had.

I was thinking about everything that has happened this past year and pinpointing specific things I am thankful for or have learned, in spite of the circumstances we went through. I won't bore you with the details as it would be a book, but in general:

1. Okay this one is specific, but it really struck me: a year ago, Chad was not able to do hardly anything because of the pain he was in. Today, he carried the Christmas tree outside over his head with one hand and vacuumed the needles off the floor. To most of you this is no big deal, but it was significant for us.

2. The most recent tests show no cancer activity at all, and Chad has been able to go back to work.

3. The timing of his medical issues finally being diagnosed and taken care of (including the fusion surgery) was nothing short of a miracle.

4. The way our family/friends/church family/complete strangers/online friends supported us and were used of God to be a tremendous help and blessing to us.

5. Chad works for a great company that has great insurance and disability coverage. I figured out he was on disability on and off for about 6 months. We have never missed a bill or a meal.

6. Our little boy is healthy, happy, funny, silly, good - he cracks us up constantly! We are extremely grateful that it was not him that was sick.

7. Most importantly, God's plan for our lives. He has promised to give us the grace to go through what He puts in front of us, even if we don't know the reason for it. I don't know why my 34-year-old-previously-healthy-as-a-horse husband was diagnosed with cancer and then 8 months later had to have his neck fused, but I have seen good things come from it. I had a lot of trouble remembering this through the stress and burden of having to be the strong one/caretaker of everything. It showed me more about myself, and let me tell you, it was pretty ugly sometimes. It was easy to let myself get bitter and worry about the future instead of looking upward. I am still working on this. A LOT.

8. One thing I have been comforted by in all this is that I believe we have gone through this so that we can now comfort and support others who may find themselves in similar situations. I hope no one I know has to go through what we did. Stress does BAD things to you, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Trust me.

So I have no resolutions for the coming year. I simply hope to recover from last year, keep my life simple, and pray that Chad has no more major setbacks on the road to full recovery. If you have read this far, thank you. I was almost in tears writing this, being overwhelmed with emotions. I do appreciate each of you who take the time to stop by and comment. I truly enjoy reading them and try to reciprocate! Happy New Year!
