Birthday on Kraft

This was a card I submitted for the Papercrafts Magazine Go-to Sketches call that didn't get picked up.  What I really like about this card is how well the ink shows up on kraft! I used Memento Pear Tart and Tangelo, and the kraft doesn't muddy the colors at all.  Another detail that's hard to see is that I ran the card base through with the canvas impression plate after I stamped to give it a little more texture.

Man Card

If you are like me, you are always in search of good ideas for man cards. I left this one sentiment-less so I can make it whatever I need it to be when the situation arises. And I will be making several more of these, maybe in different colors.

And if you notice, yes, that is hunter green cardstock. I hate hunter green. But yes, I bought some pinefeather cardstock JUST for a 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece to go on my swatch ring. And it is next to my new leaf card swatch, and I thought it didn't look too bad with it. And I might as well get some use out of it.

I channeled my inner Jackie Pedro and wound the twine around the pinefeather panel multiple times and then threaded and tied it through a wood button. It's still manly!

MFT WSC #12

I got a couple shout-outs this week that just made my week!  This card made the weekly favorite finds on the MFT blog, this one made Heather's Totally Hues top 5, and this one from the CAS blog made Jimmi's Sunday Favorites on the Unity blog!

And here is MFTWSC #12:
I just love this dotty biscotti paper and the lemon color was exactly what I wanted to go with this sweet girl.  Lots of piecing, and I used the Mat Stack cut out because it was just sitting on my desk and it worked out perfectly for this. Yay!

My Stamp Cave and Dawn's Die Storage

Lots of (big) pics today, friends. I did a major clean, so I wanted some pictures to document it, haha!  I affectionately refer to my stamping space as The Stamp Cave, because it is in the basement of our old house. It's very cold down there right now, and I could not stamp during the winter without my trusty space heater. The one good thing about my space being in the basement is that I don't have to clean up and put stuff away if I don't want to. It's out of sight!  Okay, here we go:

This is the view coming down the stairs.
Hubby bought me that great chair several years ago for Christmas.
I can reach all my usual supplies from here without having to get up.

The bookshelf on the right holds random stuff I don't know where to put anywhere else.

Left side and center of my table:
(that is an old entertainment center on the other side
of my table that holds random stuff I don't use often)

Right side of my table:
(those cards are there as a reminder that they need to be sent :))

One of my plastic carts, the second drawer holds extra adhesive, etc,
and the bottom drawer holds all my punches.  My second cart is to the left
of my table, and it holds more ribbon, envelopes, etc.

Scrap storage:

An old end table serves as my die cutting station.

And here is Dawn's Die Storage, it works perfectly for me! I pretty much just copied what she did HERE.  I bought that sewing machine probably eight months ago, took it out of the box three months ago, and this weekend finally threaded her up and made these pockets. Now my goal is to stitch on a card. Which is why I got the thing in the first place!

This is the little plastic bin I keep them in. They come in packs of two for $1 or something really cheap (Walmart, I think), and I have several of them. I even sewed a few extra pockets for new dies that YOU KNOW will be coming to live with me :).
I hope you enjoyed looking, thanks for stopping by!

Make It Monday

This week's Make It Monday challenge was to use Copics on colored cardstock.

I stamped the large flower from Friends Til the End in Tuxedo Memento ink twice, once on almost amethyst and once on spring moss. I stamped the leaves on spring moss also.  I colored everything and then cut them out. I added some Sugar Dust to the flower center.  The card base has canvas texture, and I stamped a chartreuse panel repeatedly with the happy birthday sentiment from Simple Sentiments. TIP: start from the bottom and work your way up when doing this, ask me how I know!  I popped up the flower and added a white taffeta ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by, you can find all the details for this challenge HERE.

MFTWSC11

And here we are at MFTWSC #11:
I am really trying to dig into some old paper and get it used up - I used some old Basic Grey here. Have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by!

I'll leave you with a pic of the snow we got a week ago:
(this is the picnic table)
Thankfully, it's been sunny and 60 for two days!

Joanne's Blogaversary Challenge

I made this for Joanne's blogaversary challenge, and we had to use 3 things from this list on our card:
Kraft Paper
Pink, Ivory and Orange as your color combination
Twine
Mixed Stitching Ledger, Alpha or number paper
I used kraft paper (of course), the color combo, and alpha paper. I die cut the tag from a coaster, then die cut it again on the alpha paper at an angle and adhered it to the coaster tag. I've got a few memento dew drop inks, and I have to say I really like them! The colors show up so well on other colors (and kraft too). Here I stamped the polka dots in Rose Bud on melon berry paper.

Elegant Wedding Wishes

We have a few weddings in the upcoming months, so I'm ahead of the game for once!
I think this will be a mass-produced card, especially since it's a PAIN
to clean the black ink off that background stamp.
Toile background by Unity, Giga Guidelines and Wedding Day by PTI.  Thanks for stopping by!

March SFYTT

This is for March SFYTT. I went green and purple with it,
and I pulled out my favorite There She Goes set to play with.
I couldn't bear to cover up any of that paper on the mug, so it is a travel mug
instead of one with a cardboard holder thingy on it.

Patterned paper is Pixielicious by Cosmo Cricket, it's such a fun, playful line! I'm really trying to use my tag die more, and I'm getting more comfortable with it. Anytime I used to try to put a tag on a card, it looked like a tag plopped on a card. This one I ran through with the canvas impression plate so it's not so boring.

Make It Monday

This week's Make It Monday challenge was to use an impression plate on only part of a panel.
So I partially stamped a new leaf panel with polka dots, and ran it through my
Big Shot so only the polka dot part was impressed with the canvas plate.
The car was die cut from chipboard then stamped, and I added Crystal Effects
 to the window and headlights.
My friend just had a baby boy, so this will go to her. Not a traditional baby card, but cute nonetheless.

MFTWSC #10

We're up to week 10 of the MFT sketches! Here's this week's:

I used some fun Echo Park and Jillibean Soup papers. That flower is die cut from a coaster and again from the patterned paper, and I glued the paper onto the coaster. That rose is the smallest MFT rolled rose die, and it is SO HARD to get to roll correctly! It took me about 15 tries to get this one that I was happy with. I absolutely cannot roll that little thing with paper even if I crinkle it lots, so I used felt here. Any tips from those of you with more skillz than me?

Thanks for stopping by!

I think I'm going to stop typing up supply lists, so if you have a question about something I used, just ask.

HB

I sat down to stamp the other day and had no mojo. So I started cleaning up a bit and came across some pieces to a card that I had given up on months ago. I re-worked it and added some new stuff, and this is the end result. I'm relatively happy with it! This also works for the PTI Paper Dolls blog hop theme for this month, which was to make a card with P.T.I. on it. P = pink and polka dots, T = twine, I = ink (work with me here :)).

This was my entry for this month's MFT Guest Designer contest. I LOVE how this turned out! I'm giving it to my mom for her birthday next month so it will stay close by so I can look at it when I go over there. (And because it's a *little* thick to try to mail, lol!) She always displays my cards for weeks, she's so sweet!
I was pleasantly surprised to see this card pop up on the MFT blog as a Favorite Find! How fun!

PC Reject #1

It's been literally years since I've submitted to a publication call, so I decided to throw my hat in the ring again with the latest PC mag call. Nothing got picked up, but I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I might be. The call was for go-to sketches, and many of them had me either laughing or scratching my head. So I challenged some of my PTI Posse friends to pick a crazy sketch, make something, AND submit it. So here's mine:
You'd never guess by looking at it that this was NOT a go-to sketch for me, lol!  I do like how it turned out, though. This was for sketch #12. I'm also linking this in Amber's Reject Blog Hop.

Make It Monday

Today's Make It Monday Challenge was to distress your edges.
After I die-cute the flowers, I rolled the petal edges between my thumbs and forefingers to separate the layers and pulled them apart a little bit. I also rubbed the edges of the card with vintage cream ink. You can find all the details for this challenge HERE.
Thanks for stopping by!

MFTWSC 9

And here we are with MFT's WSC #9:
I saw the idea for the scallop-y thing on PTI's last blog hop, and am so proud of myself for actually trying something I saw!  I always try to pick up little tips and details, but am really bad about trying them myself. This was a great way to get two purples in there that I wanted to. There is a layer of crystal effects on Flopsey's mug. I used spring-ish colors with the hope that spring WILL show up one of these days. Hubby had to snowblow the driveway AGAIN Sunday morning.  Ugh. Go away cold and snow!
Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Snowbunny Flopsey
paper - olive, vanilla, aqua mist, white, lavender lace, elegant eggplant, October Afternoon pp (I think)
ink - memento, copics

Make It Monday - Foam

I've been waiting for days to take a picture of this as it has been so gloomy and gray here.  But I couldn't wait any longer, so here it is.  The flower is actually a bright lavender-y purple, but my camera doesn't recognize red or purple, I swear.  The frame and flower are both foam.  I have a giant pack of all colors of self-adhesive foam, and this was the second time I broke into it.  I knew I kept it for a reason, haha!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps - Mat Stack 1 Collection
paper - kraft, white
